Irish autism charity AsIAm has published a set of free, downloadable handbooks for parents, teachers and students (in second-level with HFA/Aspergers Syndrome).
The charity says it hopes the books ‘will provide ideas, knowledge and reassurance to all parties in education and also create a conversation within school communities around how people with autism can be best supported within that community’.
As well as separate handbooks the set also includes two further books: My Child and All About Me.
My Child enables parents, under various headings from communications to sensory processing, from anxiety to strength, to share their child’s story and needs with teachers. All About Me provides an opportunity for teenagers with the condition to do the same.
